Ghanaian singer-songwriter Gyakie has opened up about the inspiration behind her album title ‘After Midnight’, offering a glimpse into her intimate creative process.

In a recent interview on ‘Daybreak Hitz’ with Doreen Avio, Gyakie explained that the name wasn’t chosen for effect; it was a reflection of when and how the album took shape. The tranquil, introspective hours past midnight served as her creative sanctuary.

“The name After Midnight came from how and when the songs were recorded,” she stated.

“Most of the studio sessions took place after midnight. I like to record at dawn because that’s when most people are asleep, and everything is quiet. That’s when I’m able to create properly. It has always been my favorite time of day, so the name of the project just made sense.”

For Gyakie, this album is more than a collection of tracks, it’s a deeply personal milestone. She likened the experience of making it to an emotional rite of passage.

“This project, every time I talk about it, I feel like a mother about to give birth to her first child,” Gyakie said. “I’ve always believed that an album represents an artist, especially your first or debut album.”
