Ghanaian media personality and singer Afua Asantewaa’s second bid to break the Guinness World Record for the longest individual singing marathon has been unsuccessful.

Following a thorough review, the Guinness World Records (GWR) team has confirmed that her attempt has been invalidated due to breaches of the official rest break guidelines.

In an official communication, GWR stated that Afua Asantewaa’s team violated the stipulated rule allowing participants five minutes of rest for every continuous hour of performance.

Specifically, the GWR cited two key instances of non-compliance that led to the disqualification:

During the 19th sequence of her performance, at the 23-hour and 25-minute mark, Afua reportedly took a 15-minute break, exceeding her entitled 5-minute rest period by 10 minutes.

Later, during the 21st sequence, she took a significantly longer break of 105 minutes, despite having only accumulated 10 minutes of rest time according to the GWR regulations.

The Guinness World Records team emphasized that strict adherence to all rules is paramount for the validation of any record claim to ensure fairness and integrity across all attempts. These identified violations, therefore, made it impossible to approve Afua Asantewaa’s second attempt.

Despite this setback and the previous invalidation of her initial attempt, Afua Asantewaa remains resilient and optimistic.

In a heartfelt statement released following the GWR’s decision, she expressed profound gratitude to Ghanaians and her global supporters for their unwavering encouragement and belief throughout both of her record attempts.

“It’s been a challenging yet rewarding journey. Exploring my potential on the Guinness World Records platform has brought about growth, discovery, and life-altering experiences,” Afua Asantewaa shared, reflecting on her efforts.

She also extended her sincere thanks to her dedicated team and numerous sponsors, including the esteemed Otumfuo Nana Osei Tutu II, and various corporate entities for their invaluable support throughout her ambitious endeavors.

While this marks her second unsuccessful attempt at breaking the singing marathon record, Afua Asantewaa affirmed that her journey and aspirations are far from over, hinting at future endeavors and a continued pursuit of her goals.
