Ghanaian rapper and current University of Ghana SRC President, Guru, known in private life as Maradona Yeboah Adjei, has angrily fired back at students of the University of Ghana who have been attacking him following the 2025 SRC Week Celebration.

In a TikTok live session, the rapper-turned-student leader did not mince words as he addressed the criticisms and allegations that have flooded social media after the week-long celebration.

Many students accused him of mismanaging SRC funds and claimed that he spent the school’s money lavishly during the event.

Guru, however, rubbished those claims, describing them as baseless and ignorant. He challenged students who believe he squandered funds to go and ask professional event organizers whether the GH¢200,000 budget allocated for the the artists night during the SRC Week could even afford a standard stage setup.

According to Guru, a modern stage setup for top-tier events costs no less than GH¢600,000 to GH¢700,000, making it practically impossible for the SRC to deliver a concert of that standard with its limited budget.

He further revealed that A-list artistes such as Sarkodie, Stonebwoy, and Black Sherif charge very high performance fees, which are amounts that far exceed what student unions can afford.

Guru emphasized that most of these artistes showed up to support the 2025 SRC Week purely because of their personal relationships with him, not because they were paid their full fees.

Guru also reminded students that beyond entertainment, his administration has been working hard on developmental projects on campus. He disclosed that he and a few team members personally funded two boreholes and initiated other infrastructural projects aimed at improving the welfare of students.
