A youth-centered group, Progressive Youth Front (PYF), Ghana, has strongly condemned the mass dismissal of public sector appointments following President John Dramani Mahama’s directive.

The PYF urges the government to reverse what they described as unjust decision, prioritizing the well-being of the nation’s youth.

The group blames President Mahama for being heartless and careless towards those affected amid economic hardship.

They have threatened to take legal action against the government over the revocation of appointments if not reversed.

The Progressive Youth Front (PYF) is dedicated to advocating for policies that uplift and empower Ghanaian youth.

According to the PYF, it’s unreasonable for a party that campaigned on promises of available and equitable job opportunities just lay off workers in the name of fulfilling their resetting Ghana agenda.

The group suggests that the NDC government, led by President Mahama, is acting in bad faith, deliberately betraying their election promises on job creation.

In a statement singed by five national executives led by the National Cordinator Miss Albertha Twumwaa, the group describes the mass dismissal as political motivated and insensitive, stating that approximately 12,000 Ghanaians will be affected.

The PYF calls on President Mahama to honour his oath, emphasizing that no administration has the power to arbitrarily dismiss public sector workers based on political considerations.

The group acknowledges that the unemployment rate remains a major challenge, and dismissing government workers will push more youth into liability.

“At a time when youth unemployment remains a pressing national challenge, such actions only serve to deepen despair and widen inequalities.”

The Progressive Youth Front urges civil society organizations, labour unions, the media, and all well-meaning Ghanaians to speak out against this injustice and demand an immediate reversal of these terminations.
