Fast-rising artiste Lalid has accused his former record label, ‘Ground Up’, of messing him up during his period with them.

He made this assertion in an X post while giving thanks to God despite the challenges faced after parting ways with the label.

“If I tell you how I struggled after Ground Up fucked me up you go talk no be true talk. Only thing we fit talk now is Glory to God,” he wrote on X on October 7, 2025.

According to him, his time at Ground Up did not unfold as both parties had initially agreed.

Lalid disclosed that there was a written contract in place, but he ended up leaving the label only a few months after signing because things did not turn out as promised.

He also shared that he had no knowledge about the internal issues surrounding the label before joining.

Ground Up Chale, once home to artistes such as Kwesi Arthur, Quamina MP, Twitch, and Kofi Mole, faced public fallouts, including Kwesi Arthur’s 2022 social media outburst against the label.

Speaking on this, Lalid said he had no idea why those artistes left the label before he joined, adding that he might have reconsidered his decision if he had known.

“Things did not go as planned as we were meant to do. It’s basically you just being slept on. There was a contract, it was a written contract. I did only a few months because I did not go to Ground Up, they came to me. So I just realised this is not what we spoke about, so let me just move on.

“Honestly, I didn’t know why the others left. If I knew what really happened, I wouldn’t have signed to the label,” he stated.

The fast-rising artiste, whose breakout single ‘The Matter’ has been trending on social media and among young music lovers, explained the context behind his post during an interview on Hitz FM.
