The Ghana Grid Company Limited (GRIDCo) has completed work to replace a damaged transmission tower on the Ashaiman section of the 161kV Tema-Achimota transmission line.

In a statement issued on Sunday, August 23, 2026, GRIDCo said its engineers and technical teams had safely completed the replacement works, allowing power supply to all locations in the Greater Accra Region that were taken off during the exercise to be restored.

“Power supply to all locations in Greater Accra which were taken off for the work have since been restored,” the company said, while thanking the public for its “patience, understanding and cooperation” which enabled the critical work to be completed.

GRIDCo also reiterated its warning against encroachment on transmission line Right-of-Way corridors.

It said, following a directive by the Minister of Energy and Green Transition, Dr John Abdulai Jinapor, all persons, businesses, land users and other entities occupying or undertaking activities within the affected corridors have until September 12, 2026, to vacate.

GRIDCo said after the deadline, it would work with relevant statutory institutions to enforce the law and remove all unauthorised structures and activities from the transmission line Right-of-Way.
