Former Australian of the Year Grace Tame has defended her controversial appearance at a pro-Palestine rally on Monday.
The 31-year-old took to social media on Tuesday night to declare ‘she is not the story’ and that the thousands of protesters who appeared at the rally were within their rights to peacefully protest the war in Gaza.
Tame led a chant at the conclusion of her speech to ‘globalise the intifada’ which refers to Palestine ‘shaking off’ oppression or resistance against Israel, but has been interpreted by some as a call for violence.
