Asante Kotoko’s worrying form in the Ghana Premier League continued following their late collapse against Berekum Chelsea on Sunday afternoon.
The Porcupine Warriors suffered a 2-1 defeat in Berekum despite scoring first in the game as the two teams met on matchday 10 of the Ghanaian top flight.
Kotoko went ahead in the game in the 59th minute after Inusah Adam scored from the penalty spot to give the Kumasi-based side the lead following a foul in the Chelsea box.
However, Kotoko collapsed in the final 25 minutes of the game. Former Kotoko player Zakaria Fuseini drew Chelsea levelled in the 65th minute of the encounter to throw the game into the balance.
Just when the Porcupine Warriors seemed to have taken a point from Berekum, Yussif Bayanalabe struck late to give the home side the lead.
The loss comes after Berekum Chelsea lost 2-0 to Aduana FC at Dormaa, while Kotoko were held to a 2-2 draw at home by Medeama SC in their previous league encounter.
Kotoko’s defeat means they have now recorded two defeats and three draws in their five away matches this season, as the search for their first away win of the 2026/27 season continues.
The result also leaves Kotoko in 10th position on the league table with 13 points, while Berekum Chelsea move to ninth place with 14 points.
Kotoko will look to bounce back when they host GoldStars on matchday 11, while Chelsea travel to Swedru to face All Blacks.
