Minister of Communications, Digital Technology, and Innovations, Samuel Nartey George Minister of Communications, Digital Technology, and Innovations, Samuel Nartey George

The Minister of Communications, Digital Technology, and Innovations, Samuel Nartey George, has disclosed that the government’s flagship One Million Coders Programme is set to launch on April 16, 2025.

According to him, the pilot phase will be conducted in four regions to give inclusion to all Ghanaians.

The programme is expected to train 150,000 youth in coding, webapp development, digital marketing etc.

The minister noted that all interested persons can begin their applications via the official registration platform.

Speaking during a press briefing on April 9, 2025, Sam George said: “The ministry will launch the programme with the pilot in Accra, Ashanti Bono and the Upper East Regions exactly a week today on April 16, with over 250 people from Accra, Bolga, Sunyani and Kumasi, expected to participate in the launch.

“The programme is inclusive by design, with an integrated 50/50 gender split to leverage our district assemblies to ensure that the programme reaches every corner of Ghana, not just urban centres. The website is active for all citizens who intend to take part in the pilot to go on and apply. The URL is https://www.onemillioncoders.gov.gh,” he added.

The government has therefore allocated GH¢100 million to the programme.
