The Minister of Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, has said the government will support the private sector to establish three large garment factories to drive industrial growth and create jobs.

Speaking at the Government Accountability Series in Accra on Wednesday, January 21, 2026, the minister said; “The proposed garment factories are projected to create about 27,000 jobs in the long term.”

The minister explained that the garment industry has strong job creation potentials because it employs a large number of people and requires minimal training before employees can engage.

According to her, this initiative will provide employment and strengthen the country’s industrial base.

She further added that the government support to the private sector remains central to its economic growth.
