President John Dramani Mahama

President John Dramani Mahama has reaffirmed his commitment to the protection of human rights and the investigation of unresolved murder cases.

Addressing members of the Ghana Bar Association on Wednesday, March 26, 2025, President Mahama stressed the need for law enforcement agencies to take an active role in resolving murder cases like that of investigative journalist, Ahmed Hussein-Suale.

“We are committed to the protection of human rights and investigation of significant killings or murders that have remained uninvestigated. And so, I’ve urged the police and the investigative organisations to look more actively in cases like Ahmed Hussein-Suale, and that’s how come a first suspect has been arrested.

“We’re hoping that his interrogation would lead to further arrests of people. There are several other cases, like the JB Danquah murder case and we’re asking that it be extradited in terms of the prosecution that is taking place and for investigations to be carried out to find out if any other persons were involved in some of those,” he stated.

Meanwhile, the Madina District Court has remanded 35-year-old businessman, Daniel Koranteng, aka Nana Amakye, arrested in connection with the murder of the investigative journalist.

He has been provisionally charged with murder at the court where committal proceedings are expected to take place.

Ahmed Hussein-Suale was shot dead by some unknown assailants in 2019, at Madina in Accra.
