Gospel musician Kofi Owusu Peprah has urged his fellow gospel artistes to shift their focus from making money to spreading the message of God’s love.

The singer believes that the true calling of a gospel musician is to share the gospel, not to chase personal financial gain.

In an interview on Joy Prime TV, he explained that gospel musicians are called to minister, not to operate like business people.

He encouraged artistes to be flexible and considerate, especially when churches or individuals reach out to them for performances.

“We have not been called to make money. My plea is that as Christians, we shouldn’t be so rigid and hard-fisted about how people should reach you. You need to consider a lot of things, like the size of the church. Let’s not be so strict; it’s not cast in stone. If you had to put a charge on the message of the cross, how much would it be? You can’t put a price on the cross,” he said.

While he acknowledged that gospel musicians need resources to carry out their work, he also urged churches and event organisers to play their part by offering fair compensation.

According to him, musicians often have to pay instrumentalists, sound engineers, and other support staff, so proper planning and mutual understanding are important.

He added that when someone is truly led by the Holy Spirit, they will naturally see the value in supporting gospel artistes for their service.

“If anybody invites you and the person truly has the Holy Spirit in him or her, the person wouldn’t have a problem with some of these things,” he said.
