GoldStars crowned 2024-25 GPL championsFC were officially crowned 2024-25 Ghana Premier League (GPL) champions for the first time in their 27-year existence, on Saturday.

The celebration unfolded at Duns Park in Bibiani as the Miners capped off their fairytale season with a ceremonial goalless encounter against regional rivals Medeama SC.

The coronation marked the culmination of a dream campaign, sealed a week earlier with a dominant 4–0 home win against relegated Accra Lions.

That emphatic triumph confirmed Gold Stars’ status as champions, triggering scenes of elation that only intensified with Saturday’s festivities.

What unfolded at Duns Park was more than a football match. It was a community-wide carnival. Supporters filled the stadium and spilled into surrounding streets, draped in the club’s colours, singing, dancing, and celebrating a journey that has captivated football fans across the country.

Led by captain Yakubu Dzia Ull-Haqq and Head Coach Frimpong Manso, the team lifted the Premier League trophy amid a sea of green and yellow passionate fans.

The celebrations began in earnest at the final whistle and stretch well into the evening, as the town of Bibiani came alive in a festival of music, fireworks, and pride. After nearly three decades of chasing top-flight glory, the club and its town finally had their moment.

With the domestic crown secured, GoldStars FC now turn their focus to the continental stage.

As Ghana’s champions, they will represent the nation in the preliminary rounds of the 2025- 26 CAF Champions League, aiming to make an impact in Africa’s most prestigious club competition.

For now, though, the town of Bibiani basks in a golden glow, one forged through perseverance, passion, and pride. –Ghanafa.org
