The recent decision by the Ghanaian government, through Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, to grant diplomatic passports to selected creatives, including Rocky Dawuni, Wode Maya, Anita Erskine, Dentaa Amoateng, and Ibrahim Mahama has been questioned by a section of the Ghanaian public.

In the opinion of some netizens, some of the creatives mentioned, especially, renowned Ghanaian musician Rocky Dawuni did not deserve such a passport.

However, in a radio interview with Nana Romeo on Okay FM’s Ekwanso Dwoodwoo drive-time show, Rocky Dawuni addressed his critics head on.

He stated their objections are due to poor research and misunderstanding into his life as a creative and the works he has done over the years.

According to him, his body of work over many year is public and verifiable. He pointed out that his past collaborations and honors, including his role as a United Nations ambassador, serve as proof of his credibility in representing Ghana on global platforms.

The Grammy award-winning musician said he has partnered with, for example, the President of Costa Rica to stage large concerts in Costa Rica and other countries, thereby building cultural bridges and raising Ghana’s profile in foreign markets.

He ended by urging those who do not understand the government’s decision to go and ask the government rather than attack him personally online.
