L-R: Akon, Zidane, Mbappe and Idris Elba were spotted at the 2025 AFCON

The 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco attracted stars from across the globe to witness football on the continent.

These personalities included legendary footballers, coaches, actors, mixed martial artists, and others who showed up to support the tournament and give it greater visibility.

Some players were present to support countries of their parents, while others watched for fun.

Football Stars:

Real Madrid players Kylian Mbappé, Aurélien Tchouaméni, and Barcelona defender Jules Koundé were spotted in the stadium enjoying the AFCON matches.

These players, who have African heritage, were present to cheer on their teams and help project the tournament to a global audience.

Senegal legend El Hadji Diouf also attended the final to rally behind his nation.

Coaches:

Legendary French coach Zinedine Zidane was in the stands to support his son, Luca Zidane, who delivered a brilliant performance in goal for Algeria.

Aliou Cissé, who led Senegal to their first-ever AFCON title in 2021 after defeating Egypt 4–2 on penalties, was also present to support the team in the 2025 final against Morocco.

Football Officials:

High-ranking FIFA officials were in attendance, including President Gianni Infantino, General Secretary Mattias Grafström, and Chief of Global Football Development Arsène Wenger.

Mixed Martial Arts:

Cameroonian-French mixed martial artist Francis Ngannou was also spotted at the stadium watching some of the games.

Entertainment Personalities:

Musician Akon of Senegalese descent, actor Idris Elba, of Sierra Leonean descent (who also performed at the closing ceremony), and fellow actor Omar Sy were all present.

Popular American streamer IShow Speed even served as the mascot during the final.

The 2025 AFCON gained significant global attention as these personalities helped draw audiences to the tournament.

The final featured a feisty encounter between Senegal and host nation Morocco, where Pape Gueye’s goal secured the trophy for the Teranga Lions after Brahim Díaz missed a penalty.
