Following the massive turnout at Independence Square for ShattaFest 2025 on October 18, showbiz manager Nana Poku Ashis has called on the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Sam Okudzeto Ablakwa, to advocate for Shatta Wale to be granted a diplomatic passport.

Ashis made the appeal, citing the artiste’s growing global influence and remarkable ability to draw large crowds.

Speaking on Hitz FM on October 20, Ashis highlighted the concert’s scale, recounting how the venue and the roads leading to it were full of fans from across the country and beyond.

“The roads leading to Independence Square … were packed. Everywhere was filled. People were even standing on poles just to catch a glimpse of their hero,” he stated.

He described the spectacle as “not a joke,” arguing it show how firmly Ghanaians believe in Shatta Wale’s brand and appeal.

“He is a tourism asset to this country,” Ashis declared.

He added that Okudzeto Ablakwa should reach out to Shatta Wale and facilitate the process of granting him a diplomatic passport.

“Call him tomorrow and give him that diplomatic passport. Quick! Quick! Let’s not argue about it,” he stated.

Ashis’ call comes after five creatives, including Wode Maya, Rocky Dawuni, Ibrahim Mahama, Anita Erskine etc were granted diplomatic passports for their work in bringing international attention to Ghana through their talent and creative projects.

Following that development, calls have been made for more creatives, including Nana Ama McBrown and now Shatta Wale, to be granted diplomatic passports due to their impact in and outside Ghana.
