An update regarding the nationwide cholera outbreak has been released by the Ghana Health Service (GHS).

The outbreak has been reported in the Greater Accra, Central, Eastern, Western, and Ashanti Regions, according to the Ghana Health Service’s update.

There have been 35 fatalities and 4,155 suspected cases as of December 24, 2024.

The GHS reports that most of the fatalities were reported within 24 hours of the individuals’ admission.

With 17 documented deaths, the Western Region—the state that made the revelation—is the most affected.

According to the GHS, 662,906 of the 792,482 eligible individuals in the Western Region have received vaccinations.

In an effort to curb the outbreak’s spread, the GHS has activated the National Public Health Emergency Operation Center nationwide.

Additionally, it has triggered the Public Health Emergency Management Committee (PHEMC) in every district and region that has been impacted.
