Several Ghanaian musicians and entertainment personalities have consistently voiced concerns over the inadequate royalties they receive throughout their careers.

Recently, popular music duo Lali X Lola petitioned the Minister for Communications, Digital Technology and Innovation, Samuel Nartey George, regarding unpaid royalties from the digital music platform Boomplay.

Similarly, rapper Tulenkey has highlighted the poor state of Ghana’s royalty system, describing it as one of the major challenges confronting the local music industry.

In response to these concerns, GhanaWeb is hosting an X Space discussion featuring key stakeholders in the industry.

The conversation explores practical measures that digital distribution platforms and the Ghana Music Rights Organization (GHAMRO) can implement to address the ongoing issues with royalty collection and distribution.

Confirmed speakers include music duo Lali X Lola, the acting CEO of GHAMRO, and several other prominent figures from Ghana’s entertainment industry.
