GhanaWeb recently announced the nominees for the 2025 Edition of its annual GhanaWeb Excellence Awards.
These nominees have been categorised into more than 20 categories.
And as a way of bringing readers up to speed on who has been nominated, here are brief profiles of some of them.
All of the following have been nominated under the Music, Drama, and Dance category.
QueenLet
QueenLet, born Leticia, is a Germany-based Ghanaian gospel musician, nurse, and
worship minister celebrated for her distinctive “Soakat” (Soaking & Atmospheric)
style of worship. Her music is known for creating deep spiritual encounters through reflective and immersive sound.
She has released several singles and projects, including Soul Winning (2024), Holy Fire (2023), and Empowered (Live) (2021). Some of her widely recognized songs include Windblow, Dear Holy Spirit, Anwanwadwuma, and Holy Fire.
In July 2024, QueenLet embarked on an extraordinary singing marathon in
Hamburg, Germany, is attempting to surpass the 105-hour record set by Sunil
Waghmare — a remarkable demonstration of her dedication to worship and the gospel ministry.
Balancing her professional career as a nurse with her musical calling, QueenLet
continues to inspire audiences globally through faith-driven creativity. In recognition of her impact and devotion to gospel music, she has been nominated for the GhanaWeb Excellence Awards 2025.
Esther Godwyll
Esther Godwyll is a gifted Ghanaian gospel singer renowned for her powerful vocals, passionate worship style, and profound spiritual impact. Through soulful
performances and vocal excellence, she has steadily carved a respected place
within Ghana’s gospel music landscape.
In 2025, she achieved major acclaim after winning Best Female Vocalist at the
Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA), affirming her exceptional vocal ability,
consistency, and influence in contemporary gospel music. Her ability to combine
technical precision with spirit-filled delivery has positioned her among the leading voices in Ghana’s creative arts industry.
Further recognising her talent and contribution, Esther Godwyll has been nominated in the Music, Dance, and Drama category at the GhanaWeb Excellence Awards 2025.
D-Black
D-Black, born Desmond Kwesi Blackmore, is a Ghanaian anglophone hip-hop and
Afrobeat artist, entrepreneur, and entertainment executive. Since launching his
music career in 2009, he has become one of Ghana’s most influential figures in both music and business.
Known for hit songs such as Vera and Enjoyment Minister, along with numerous
collaborations across Africa, D-Black seamlessly blends hip-hop, Afrobeats, and
Hiplife is to create a distinctive and commercially successful sound.
He is the founder and CEO of Black Avenue Muzik, a prominent Ghanaian record label that has nurtured and managed several successful artists. Beyond music, he has built a strong presence in the entertainment and nightlife industry, including ventures such as Club Onyx, solidifying his reputation as a dynamic entertainment entrepreneur.
Over the years, D-Black has received multiple awards and international nominations, including recognition from BET, MTV Africa, and the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards. His influence spans music, media, events, and youth empowerment within Ghana’s creative economy. He has been nominated for the GhanaWeb Excellence Awards in recognition of his outstanding contribution to music and entertainment.
Prosper Dossey
Prosper Dossey, popularly known as ProsDos, is a Ghanaian musician, creative
visionary, and cultural ambassador whose artistry continues to gain international recognition. Known for his compelling stage presence and fusion of contemporary African sounds, he represents a new wave of Ghanaian creative excellence.
Driven by a passion to celebrate African identity and culture, ProsDos produces
inspirational music with global appeal while consistently promoting Ghana on
international platforms. His work extends beyond entertainment, serving as a vehicle for cultural pride and artistic innovation.
In May 2025, he received honorary recognition at the Elite Academy of Africa’s
Pioneers Gala in Cotonou, Benin, acknowledging his contribution to African music
and his role in projecting Ghana onto the continental and global stage.
In further recognition of his growing influence and dedication to the arts, ProsDos has been nominated for the GhanaWeb Excellence Awards 2025, celebrating his outstanding contribution to Ghana’s music and creative industry.
