In a remarkable move to expand Ghana’s tourism footprint into Central Europe, the Ghana Embassy in the Czech Republic, under the leadership of Her Excellency Madam Doris Adzo Denyo Brese, has spearheaded a high-level tourism promotion initiative in Prague, bringing together key stakeholders from both Ghana and the Czech Republic.

The engagement, organized in collaboration with the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA), was held at the iconic Malostranská Beseda Gastronomický Provoz in Prague.

It attracted over 30 top Czech tour operators, members of the Association of Tour Operators and Travel Agents (ACCKA), officials from the Czech Ministries of Foreign Affairs and Regional Development, and representatives of Ghana’s tourism sector.

The CEO of the Ghana Tourism Authority, Maame Efua Houadjeto, was represented by Gilbert Abeiku Aggrey, Deputy CEO in charge of Marketing and Special Duties, and Betty Kobi, Director of Marketing.

They delivered a compelling presentation showcasing Ghana’s diverse tourism assets—from UNESCO World Heritage Sites and pristine beaches to vibrant festivals and rich cultural experiences.

Aggrey also unveiled two flagship campaigns—“December in Ghana” and “The Black Star Experience”—designed to position Ghana as the gateway to Africa for global travelers, especially from emerging markets like Central and Eastern Europe.

A major highlight of the evening was the engaging cultural performance by the University of Ghana Dance Ensemble, which captivated the Czech audience and offered a vivid glimpse into Ghana’s artistic soul.

The spotlight of the evening, however, fell on the Ghana Embassy in Prague, whose efforts were instrumental in orchestrating this milestone initiative.

Ambassador Doris Adzo Denyo Brese delivered a powerful address, emphasizing the Embassy’s commitment to using diplomacy as a tool to promote tourism, trade, and cultural exchange between Ghana and the Czech Republic.

She not only facilitated crucial connections between Czech tour operators and Ghanaian stakeholders but also provided practical insights into visa processes, assuring seamless support for Czech tourists interested in visiting Ghana.

“Tourism is a bridge between peoples and cultures, and today we are building that bridge with purpose and pride,” Ambassador Brese remarked. “The Ghana Embassy is proud to be at the forefront of this dynamic collaboration between our two countries.”

Speaking on behalf of the Czech Tour Operators Association, Lenka Fidranská warmly welcomed the initiative and lauded the Embassy for its proactive role in strengthening Ghana-Czech tourism ties.

Promotional materials—including Ghanaian chocolate, tourism passports, Kente sashes, maps, and locally made snacks—were distributed to attendees, offering them a taste of Ghana’s warm hospitality and creative industry.

This pioneering event marks the first direct destination marketing activation by Ghana in the Czech Republic and signals the start of a wider Central European campaign, with future engagements planned in Poland and other strategic markets.

The Ghana Tourism Authority expressed gratitude to the Ghana Embassy and reaffirmed its commitment to working closely with Ghana’s diplomatic missions to unlock new tourism and investment opportunities across Europe.
