The Central Region’s sprint sensation, Naseera Efua Quansah, has taken her next bold step onto the world stage. The SAMMO SHS standout renowned for her dominance across the 100m, 200m, and 400m and holder of the Central Regional sprint records has secured a full athletics scholarship to the University of Kentucky (UK), where she will pursue a B.Sc. in Dietetics.

Naseera has consistently dominated, claiming gold medals at the CAA Region II Championships (U-18, U-20) and most recently at the 2024 senior level, establishing herself as one of Ghana’s brightest track prospects.

At Kentucky, she will be under the tutelage of Head Coach Rolando “Lonnie” Greene, a Hall-of-Fame figure in American collegiate athletics, whose résumé includes guiding NCAA champions, Olympians, and more than 150 All-Americans.

Working closely alongside him will be Sprint Coach Marvin Gibson, an elite strategist with nearly two decades of Division I coaching experience, producing NCAA and World Champions at powerhouse programs such as LSU, Oklahoma, and Clemson.

By joining the Wildcats, Naseera steps into a program steeped in sprinting excellence. The University of Kentucky boasts a world-class alumni roster that includes:

• Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone (Olympic & World Champion, 400m hurdles WR holder)

• Tyson Gay (U.S. 100m record holder & World 100m/200m Champion)

• Abby Steiner (U.S. indoor 200m & 300m record holder, World 4x100m gold medalist)
