Charles Osei Asibey, President of the Ghana Armwrestling Federation, has officially filed his nomination to contest for the presidency of the Armwrestling Federation of Africa (AFA), signaling his bid to continue leading the sport across the continent.

Osei Asibey, who has led the Ghana federation for over three and a half years, cited Africa Armwrestling’s critical stage of growth as the key reason for seeking another term. He emphasized the need for experienced leadership to consolidate existing achievements while introducing reforms to strengthen the continent’s position internationally.

During his tenure, the Federation improved governance, administrative coordination, and compliance with international standards. The number of active member federations increased, while continental competitions expanded in scope and participation. Osei Asibey also highlighted efforts to raise Africa’s visibility and influence within the global armwrestling community.

For his continental campaign, he plans to focus on governance reforms, expanding competitive platforms, grassroots and youth development, women’s participation, and capacity building for member federations. Strategic partnerships and sponsorships are also key priorities to ensure financial stability and long-term growth.

Osei Asibey called for unity among stakeholders and expressed gratitude to Ghanaians for their support, urging continued backing as he seeks to chart the next chapter of African Armwrestling.
