Ghanaian sprinter Edwin Gadayi says the team is grateful despite missing out on a higher finish after securing bronze in the men’s 4x100m relay at the African Athletics Championships.

Gadayi made the remarks after helping Ghana men’s national athletics team to third place in a competitive final that tested all participating nations.

The Ghanaian quartet delivered a solid performance but were unable to challenge for gold or silver, finishing behind Côte d’Ivoire and Nigeria.

Reflecting on the race, Gadayi admitted the team had attempted to correct mistakes from previous events but still fell short of their ultimate goal.

“What went wrong yesterday, we tried to correct today, but it didn’t go our way as expected. However, we are grateful for the third-place finish,” he said.

The bronze medal adds to Ghana’s overall haul at the championships and highlights the team’s resilience despite earlier setbacks in the competition.
