Actress Maame Serwaa has revealed that she has no plans of relocating abroad permanently, adding that she fears being mocked by some Ghanaians if she takes up certain jobs while living there.
In an interview with Nana Romeo on Okay FM, Maame Serwaa explained that although she occasionally travels outside the country, it is strictly for work purposes, and she always returns home afterward.

She said moving abroad to live permanently is not something she is considering at this point in her life.
The actress noted that if she were to relocate abroad and it was not for schooling, she would prefer to work rather than sit idle.
However, she believes the Ghanaians are fond of passing judgment on people based on the kind of work they do, and people might say she misused her money on ‘slaying’ while in Ghana.
Maame Serwaa added that she sees nothing wrong with taking up any form of decent work abroad, but she is aware that many Ghanaians are quick to criticise or make assumptions about others’ lives.

“I only travel abroad for work and then return. But relocating there permanently is not part of my plans. It would be difficult for me to move abroad to work because there are many Ghanaians there. And for me, if I relocate and it’s not for school, I wouldn’t want to be idle, I would definitely want to work. But if a Ghanaian sees you working at McDonald’s, they would mock you.
“It’s not wrong to work at McDonald’s, but you know how our people are, they would start talking. Some would say, ‘When she was in Ghana, she spent all her money on lifestyle and slayqueening,’ even when that’s not the case,” she stated.
She further mentioned that while her career might not have reached the level she envisions yet, she appreciates the progress she has made and the opportunities she has received over the years.
“When I started filmmaking, I was young, and so far, things are going well. It’s not exactly how I want it yet, but I’m grateful because not everyone gets it the way I have,” she added.
