The Ashanti Region is very saddened by the death of Nana Abrafo Badu, the Mamponghene, who died after a brief illness. His death has had a significant impact on the Akan communities and beyond, since he was generally regarded as a symbol of leadership, togetherness, and cultural preservation. Nana Abrafo Badu, who took the Mampong stool in 2013, was widely regarded for his unrelenting dedication to the advancement of his town.

During his reign, Mampong witnessed great progress in education, healthcare, and infrastructure. These changes demonstrated his commitment to improving the well-being of his people. In addition to his developmental efforts, Nana Abrafo Badu was passionate about instilling cultural pride in young people by arranging educational programs and traditional festivals that helped them connect with their ancestry.
