Thousands of mourners have converged at the Independence Square in Accra on the night of Saturday, August 2,2025, to pay tribute to the late music icon, Charles Kwadwo Fosu, popularly known as Daddy Lumba.

Clad mostly in black, participants lit candles, sang along to Daddy Lumba’s timeless hits, and shared fond memories of his profound impact on Ghana’s music industry.

The emotionally charged vigil forms part of a series of commemorative events planned to celebrate the life and legacy of one of Ghana’s most beloved and influential artists.

In a public statement released by the Fosu family on July 27, 2025, they expressed their appreciation for the love, prayers, and support they have received so far.

The family shared details of some of the initial arrangements made to honour the music legend.

One of them is the Book of Condolence, which has been opened to give friends, fans, colleagues, and the general public a chance to pay their final respects and share their memories of the late singer.
