Ghanaian trio Andre Ayew, Kamal Sowah and Denis Odoi have suffered relegation from the Eredivisie with NAC Breda following their 2-0 defeat away to FC Utrecht over the weekend.

The defeat confirmed the Yellow and Blacks’ relegation with two matches still left to play in the season as they remain 17th on the league table with 25 points.

Even victories in their remaining fixtures will not be enough to save them from dropping to the second tier.

All three Ghanaian players started the game against FC Utrecht, with Denis Odoi lasting the full duration of the match. Andre Ayew was substituted in the 72nd minute while Kamal Sowah came off deep into stoppage time.

For Kamal Sowah, the relegation comes despite the winger still having one-and-a-half years remaining on his contract with the Dutch side. The former Right to Dream Academy graduate is expected to assess his future ahead of next season.

The situations of Andre Ayew and Denis Odoi, however, remain uncertain. Odoi joined NAC Breda in November last year, while Ayew signed for the club in January this year after leaving French side Le Havre.

Both experienced players are set to become free agents in the coming weeks, with uncertainty surrounding whether NAC Breda will offer them contract extensions following the club’s relegation from the Dutch topflight.
