    On August 19, 2025, Billboard unveiled its ranking of the 50 greatest Afrobeats songs of all time; a list that brought together songs considered foundational, influential, and popular within the genre.

    The editors and contributors of Billboard who compiled it based their criteria on factors like stylistic representation, local popularity, regional expansion, cultural impact, and commercial success.

    Among the 50 songs selected across the continent, four songs from Ghana made it onto the list.

    R2bees featuring Wande Coal, “Kiss Your Hand” (2009)

    The first Ghanaian entry came in at number 13 with R2Bees’ 2009 hit “Kiss Your Hand,” featuring Wande Coal.

    It was a collaboration between Ghana and Nigeria, one that helped propel R2Bees beyond Ghanaian audience and also boosting Wande Coal’s influence.

    Billboard described it as a timeless record that still injects energy into any room it’s played in.

    Fuse ODG featuring Itz Tiffany, “Azonto” (2013)

    Fuse ODG teamed up with Itz Tiffany for “Azonto,” which landed at number 18 making it tye second Ghanaian song that made the list.

    The song captured the spirit of the Azonto dance wave, becoming an anthem in London clubs and stretching Afrobeats into new territory.

    Sarkodie feat. Castro, “Adonai” (2014)

    Right behind it at number 19 was Sarkodie’s “Adonai,” featuring Castro.

    The song which was released in 2014 at the height of the Azonto era, the song is remembered not only for its hook but also for its message of hope and gratitude.

    Amaarae & MOLIY, “Sad Girlz Luv Money” (2020)

    Fast forward to 2020, and a new wave of Ghanaian artistry emerged with Amaarae and Moliy’s “Sad Girlz Luv Money,” and Billboard ranked it 29th.

    The song became a viral hit, powered by Amaarae’s vocals, Moliy’s energy, and later a remix featuring Kali Uchis that turned it into a global phenomenon.
