It was another weekend of European football, and as usual, some Ghanaian players abroad experienced contrasting fortunes, with some shining brightly and others struggling to make an impact. Amidst a busy schedule that saw them in action, a select few stole the spotlight:

Inaki Williams

The Basque celebrated his tenth year at the club earlier in the week and crowned it on Sunday, December 8, 2024, with a memorable goal against Villarreal.

A fantastic team effort saw Oihan Sancet lay the ball on a plate for Inaki, who made no mistake with a lovely finish, taking his La Liga tally to 80.

It was the forward’s eighth goal contribution of the season, with four assists and four goals in 16 appearances.

Joseph Paintsil

Joseph Paintsil capped off an excellent debut season in Major League Soccer with the MLS Cup. Since joining LA Galaxy, Paintsil has been an instrumental part of the team, and his exploits in the Cup final led them to victory.

Paintsil’s ninth-minute goal, his fourth in the playoffs, propelled LA Galaxy to a 2-1 victory over the New York Red Bulls. The forward now has two trophies in his first season with the club, following their triumph in the MLS Western Conference Cup.

Ransford Königsdörffer

The Hamburg forward scored his second goal in three games as Hamburg was held to a 2-2 draw against Darmstadt in Bundesliga II. This result leaves Königsdörffer’s side two points away from the automatic Bundesliga qualification spots.

For Königsdörffer, this is his seventh goal in 15 appearances for Hamburg in Bundesliga II this season, highlighting how valuable the 23-year-old is to Merlin Polzin’s side.

Tariq Lamptey

Right-back Tariq Lamptey scored his first goal of the season in Brighton’s 2-2 draw with Leicester. After receiving the ball from Estupiñán, Lamptey curled one in with his weaker foot.

It was Lamptey’s fourth goal contribution in his last five games (two goals, two assists). Brighton seemed set for a comfortable win until a late comeback by the Foxes denied them their first victory in three games.

Ibrahim Osman

Ibrahim Osman made his return from injury as he featured in Feyenoord’s 3-1 win over Waalwijk on Saturday, December 7, 2024. The 20-year-old was substituted on in the 61st minute, ending a four-game absence.

Osman had last played for Feyenoord in their 3-1 defeat to RB Salzburg in the Champions League on Wednesday, November 6, 2024.

Osman’s debut season with Feyenoord has seen him score two goals and provide two assists in nine games. His return will undoubtedly boost his confidence as the season progresses.
