When it comes to exceptional talent, the Ghanaian music industry has, over the decades, produced some of the most beautiful and unique artistes.

But as the saying goes, death is inevitable, and sadly, it has claimed many of these brilliant minds.

Here are some Ghanaian hit songs whose original composers and featured artistes are no longer with us:

    1. Ebony Reigns and Rudebwoy Ranking – “Haters Anthem”

Seven years ago, this song was on every airwave and corner, and fans eagerly anticipated more collaborations from the pair. Sadly, death had other plans.

Ebony Reigns died in a fatal car accident on February 8, 2018.

Rudebwoy Ranking passed away after a short illness on April 24, 2024.

    2. Awurama Badu & Omanhene Pozoh – “Medofo Adaada Me”

This timeless love song remains ‘a fan favorite’<. wp_automatic_readability="49.056865464632">

Awurama Badu, a veteran highlife artiste, passed away on October 26, 2017.

Omanhene Pozoh died a year earlier, on September 21, 2016.

Deceased artist Ebony is first female to win Ghana Artist of the Year accolade

    3. Daasebre Dwamena and Castro – “Hwe Sɛsɛi Ne Ahwenie”

Two legends on one track. This evergreen classic is still loved by fans across generations.

Daasebre Dwamena died on July 29, 2016.

Castro was declared legally dead in 2021 after disappearing in July 2014.

    4. Dada KD and Kofi B – “Aseɛ Agorɔ”

Known for their lyrical depth and storytelling, this collaboration brought together two soulful voices.

However, Kofi B passed away on February 2, 2020.

Dada KD also died five years later, died in 2025 after battling a prolonged illness.

    5. Okyeame Kojo Kumi and Terry Bonchaka – “Asem Bɛn Nie” (popularly known as “Enye Menia”)

Terry Bonchaka remains one of the most vibrant and unique voices Ghana has ever seen. Together with Kojo Kumi, they delivered this energetic fan favorite.

Terry Bonchaka died in a tragic car accident on October 29, 2003, after a performance.

Kojo Kumi passed away in February 2015 after years of battling health issues.

Alhough these stars may be gone, their voices and messages live on through the music they created. Their contributions to Ghanaian music will never be forgotten.
