Ghanaian forward Daniel Afriyie Barnieh was in scintillating form on Monday evening August 25, 2025, as he netted a brace to inspire FC Aarau to a comfortable 3-0 victory over Stade Lausanne-Ouchy in the Swiss Challenge League.

The former Hearts of Oak talisman opened the scoring in the 22nd minute with a well-taken finish to put Aarau in control at the Stadion Brügglifeld.

Barnieh doubled his tally midway through the second half, striking in the 63rd minute to all but seal the points for the home side.

Valon Fazliu added a stoppage-time goal to complete a dominant performance and extend Aarau’s unbeaten run to five matches.

Barnieh, who lasted the entire duration of the match, has now scored four goals in just five league appearances since joining the club this summer.

His compatriot David Acquah was equally impressive at the back, putting in a solid shift to help preserve Aarau’s clean sheet.

The 24-year-old attacker joined the Swiss second-tier side on a free transfer after parting ways with FC Zurich, where he spent two and a half years.

Capped three times by Ghana, Barnieh is hoping his fine form will put him back in contention for Black Stars call-ups ahead of upcoming international fixtures.

With Aarau chasing top-flight promotion, Barnieh’s sharpness in front of goal could prove pivotal in their campaign.
