The United Kingdom’s 2025 Black History Month celebrations will once again feature a powerful cultural showcase headlined by Ghanaian dance troupe, the Afodat Dance Group now with an updated performance schedule.

The group, known for its high-energy blend of African dance, drumming, and storytelling, will stage three major shows this season.

The performances will take place on 24 October and 1 November at the Broadwater Farm Community Centre in Tottenham (N17 6HG), with a concluding show on 6 November at Thames Ward Community Hall in Barking (IG11 0LH).

Each event runs from 6:00 PM to 10:00 PM.

This revised schedule replaces earlier October dates previously announced for the group’s Black History Month appearances, ensuring audiences still have multiple opportunities to take part in the celebration.

Founded to preserve and promote African traditions through performance, the Afodat Dance Group has become a highlight of Black History Month programming in the UK.

Their shows feature authentic African rhythms fused with modern elements, resulting in performances that are both educational and electrifying.

“Through dance and drumming, we celebrate resilience, identity, and the stories of our ancestors,” the group said in a statement.

“Our performances are more than entertainment; they are lessons in history and expressions of pride.”

Black History Month, observed annually every October across the UK, is dedicated to honouring the achievements, struggles and contributions of Black communities.

Beyond entertainment, events like these offer space for reflection, dialogue and inspiration for younger generations.

Organisers say they hope this year’s performances will deepen that connection.

“Our goal is to strengthen community ties and inspire pride in our cultural roots,” they added.

With vibrant dancing, live drumming and interactive audience moments, the Afodat Dance Group’s performances promise to be among the standout events of Black History
