Ghana international Ibrahim Osman put up a good performance for AJ Auxerre on Sunday afternoon August 17, 2025, helping the team to defeat Lorient 1-0 in their opening match of the 2025/26 French Ligue 1 season.

The winger who joined from Brighton & Hove Albion on loan in the summer started for the French club on the matchday, operating on the wings.

In the game played at Stade de l’Abbe-Dechamps, both teams put up a good performance in the first half, but neither side could score before halftime.

However, after the break, AJ Auxerre upped their game and managed to score the game’s only goal in the 43rd minute.

Ghana’s Ibrahim Osman was in the thick of affairs, showing his quality and setting up Lassine Sinayoko to power the team to victory.

Auxerre could have made it 2-0 in the 70th minute, but a penalty awarded to the team was wasted by Josue Casimir.

Despite a late surge by Lorient, the team could not score and suffered a narrow defeat to the opponent.

Ibrahim Osman, 20, played 82 minutes of the game today before making way for Rudy Matondo.

He will be playing a key role for AJ Auxerre throughout the 2025/26 football season.
