Ghanaian urban gospel musician Scott Evans has shared his thoughts on the profound impact of gospel music on society, describing it as essential to life and order.

According to him, without gospel music and its impact, Ghana would be in a state of chaos.

Speaking in an interview with GhanaWeb’s Isaac Dadzie at the 2025 Praise Achievement Awards held at Perez Chapel in Dzorwulu, Accra, Scott Evans reflected on the role of gospel music in shaping the lives of people.

“Through gospel music people have received grace, received favor, received mercy, and received love.

“Assuming there’s no gospel music, can you imagine Ghana without gospel music? Like the things that you are seeing now would be times 100 of it,” he said.

He noted that gospel music goes beyond entertainment, asserting that it shapes individuals and society through the power of God’s Word.

“Gospel music goes beyond whatever we think it is. We (gospel artistes) are shaping lives, shaping society, and it is only the Word of God that can change lives,” he said.

Illustrating his point, Evans drew a comparison to traffic laws, suggesting that without gospel music the country would descend into chaos.

“Assuming there was no law that states that when you’re driving and the traffic light is red, stop. If there’s no law that states that when you see the traffic light is red, you have to stop, can you imagine the chaos that we would be in?

“That’s how life is without gospel music or the Word of God or gospel,” he said.
