Ghana’s Black Satellites take on defending champions Senegal this evening in a high-stakes Group B clash at the ongoing U-20 Africa Cup of Nations in Egypt.

The match, which kicks off at 6:00 PM GMT at the New Suez Stadium, is a must-watch as both teams search for their first win of the tournament following opening-day stalemates.

Ghana drew 1-1 with DR Congo, while Senegal was held by the Central African Republic.

Desmond Ofei’s men aim to bounce back strongly and are expected to maintain much of the squad that faced DR Congo. Jerry Afriyie could be handed a start after his lively cameo off the bench, while Abdul Sulemana, who was named Man of the Match in the opener, will marshal the midfield.

Musibau Aziz, Ghana’s goal scorer last time out, could lead the attack once again, with Gidios Aseako in goal and a familiar back four of Adjabeng, McCarthy Ofori, Aaron Essel, and Dacosta Antwi providing defensive cover.

Senegal, on the other hand, is expected to stick with the same lineup, including goalkeeper Mouhamed Sissokho, midfielder Cheikh Thiam, who scored against Central African Republic, and striker Ibrahim Dieng.

This is only the second-ever U-20 AFCON meeting between these two West African giants. Senegal won the first in 2019, but Ghana will take confidence from their 1-0 win over the Young Lions of Teranga in the 2023 African Games semi-final—a tournament Ghana went on to win.

A win for either side today would significantly boost their chances of progressing to the knockout rounds and could play a crucial role in determining the group’s pecking order.
