Ghana has reaffirmed its commitment to collaborating with Guinea to promote regional integration, trade, and security cooperation in West Africa.

The Vice President, Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, who represented President John Dramani Mahama at the investiture ceremony of Guinea’s President, Mamadi Doumbouya, shared the update on her X page on Sunday, January 18, 2026.

“I was in Conakry yesterday to represent His Excellency President John Dramani Mahama at the inauguration ceremony of General Mamadi Doumbouya, President of the Republic of Guinea. The visit highlighted Ghana’s commitment to strengthening regional and historical relations and to peace and stability within West Africa,” the post stated.

The ceremony brought together several Heads of State and Government, senior officials, members of the diplomatic corps, and representatives of regional and international organisations.

Doumbouya won the presidential election, which was held under a new constitution that revoked a ban on military leaders running for office and extended the presidential mandate from five years to seven years.
