The Black Stars did not experience a leap in the latest Federation of International Football (FIFA) rankings as they placed 77th globally following their poor performances in the year under review.

The Black Stars maintained their 14th position on the African continent, trailing countries like Nigeria, Senegal, Egypt, Cameroon, Morocco, Ivory Coast, and others.

The team dropped four slots in the November 2024 rankings, declining from 10th to 14th position following their disastrous performance in the 2025 African Cup of Nations qualifiers.

In the year 2024 under review, the Black Stars played 15 matches across all competitions, winning just three of them, with the rest resulting in a draw or defeat.

Ghana’s best position in the rankings was 67th globally, achieved in February 2024, but they have gradually declined to their current 77th position in December.

Meanwhile, on the global stage, World Cup champions Argentina are still leading, followed by France, Spain, and England in fourth place, with Brazil occupying fifth.

After Ghana failed to qualify for the 2025 AFCON for the first time in 20 years, the Black Stars will be looking to make amends as they resume their 2026 World Cup qualifiers in March 2025.
