Ghana has sailed through to the final of the 4×100 relay at the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo on September 20, 2025.

The team achieved this historic feat by setting a new national record of 37.79 seconds to win their heat in spectacular fashion.

Ibrahim Fuseini began the race, passed the baton to Benjamin Azamati, followed by Joseph Paul Amoah, with Rasheed Saminu finishing with a blistering pace.

Ghana finished first, with the Netherlands in second place and host nation Japan securing third.

All three countries have booked spots in the final to compete for the ultimate prize.

This record comes as a huge relief for Ghana’s 4×100 relay team, which has faced challenges with baton exchanges in previous championships and Olympic Games.

The team is now preparing for the final on September 21, 2025, where their medal hopes will be decided.

Meanwhile, Ghanaians are hopeful for a podium finish, as other disciplines have not gone as expected and the nation is yet to secure a medal.
