The Sports Directorate of the Ghana Police Service played a prominent role at the highly successful WASA exhibition held on January 8, 2025.

The event was attended by President John Dramani Mahama, the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Chrtian Tetteh Yohunu, members of the Police Management Board (POMAB) and other dignitaries.

The exhibition also featured celebrated Ghanaian musicians, including Kojo Antwi, Piesie Esther, Obaapa Christy, the Tagoe Sisters and Akosua Agyapong, among others.

During the exhibition, the Director of Sports, ASP Bernice Timbilla, led the President and the high-level delegation through an impressive showcase of the Directorate’s achievements over the years.

The presentation highlighted major sporting successes, competitive participation both locally and internationally and a collection of medals, trophies and awards earned by the various Police sports teams.

Notably, recent honours from the Eva Atta Mills Memorial Tournament underscored the Directorate’s growing prominence in hockey and community sporting initiatives.

ASP Timbilla also briefed the President on the expanding role of sports within the Service, emphasising its contribution to discipline, wellness, teamwork and national representation through Police athletes who continue to excel at both national and continental levels.

The President expressed delight and commended the Directorate for its professionalism, achievements, and the quality of talent nurtured within the Ghana Police Service.
