Ghana will host a major Diaspora Trade and Investment Summit in December 2025, aimed at deepening economic and strategic partnerships between Africa and its global diaspora.

At the launch of the Global Africa Summit (Accra Edition), Presidential Advisor on Diaspora Affairs, Kofi Okyere Darko (KOD), and Jane Raindorf Osei, President of the Africa Investment Network, outlined bold plans to mobilise diaspora capital, innovation, and expertise to drive Africa’s growth.

“The diaspora is not an extension of the African story, it is central to it,” KOD said.

“This summit creates a platform where policy meets people, and diaspora resources align with national priorities.”

As part of Ghana’s National Diaspora Engagement Policy, the summit will focus on investment promotion, diaspora citizenship initiatives, and tech-driven platforms like the 24/7 Online engagement system.

KOD noted that Ghana received over $6.4 billion in diaspora remittances in 2024, stressing that this is “not charity, it’s capital.”

Jane Raindorf Osei, explaining why Ghana was selected as host, said, “We have not just immense natural resources, but incredible human capital. The world sees Ghana as a gateway.”

The summit will feature high-profile speakers including Dr Michael O’Neal, who will unveil a new pharmaceutical facility; Clarence from Google X, on AI-driven innovation; and Prof Thomas Poe of Yale University, on climate investments.

Global bodies such as the National Black Chamber of Commerce and other corporate partners will also participate, exploring opportunities in tourism, renewable energy, and sustainable business.

“This is more than a summit. It’s a movement to unite global Africans and build the future together,” Jane said.

The National Diaspora Trade and Investment Summit will be held in Accra, Ghana, in December 2025.
