Majeed Ashimeru has reacted to his early dismissal during RAAL La Louviere’s Belgian top-flight fixture against K.V. Mechelen over the weekend.
The Ghana international was shown a red card in the 16th minute after a VAR review deemed his challenge worthy of a sending-off, abruptly ending what was his first start for the club. The midfielder had previously featured as a substitute in matches against Union SG and his parent club Anderlecht.
Taking to Instagram after the game, Ashimeru expressed regret over the incident, describing the challenge as unintentional and pledging to make amends for supporters.
Ashimeru joined La Louviere on loan from Belgian Pro League side Anderlecht during the winter transfer window, with the deal set to run until the end of the season. He was unveiled as the club’s fourth signing of the mid-season window, with management highlighting his experience as a key boost for the squad.
The setback comes as La Louviere aim to maintain momentum in the second half of the campaign, with the midfielder now set to miss upcoming fixtures due to suspension.
