President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Kurt Okraku, has offered massive support to Black Stars winger Christopher Antwi-Adjei after suffering racial abuse during Schalke 04 clash against FC Lokomotive Leipzig in the German Cup.

The 31-year-old winger was racially abused on Sunday August 17, 2025 by FC Lokomotive Leipzig supporter in the first round clash of the DFB Pokal.

The incident occurred in the 13th minute when Antwi-Adjei went to the touchline to take a throw-in when words were shouted that have no place on a football pitch or anywhere else.

After Antwi-Adjei raised the issue, the referee stopped the match so the home club could make a stadium announcement.

The former Bochum star struggled throughout the game as he was booed by a section of the home team crowd.

However, the president of the Ghana FA has swiftly condemned the act, stressing racism has no place in football.

“Yesterday, (referring to Sunday August 17, 2025) our own Christopher Antwi-Adjei suffered racial abuse during Schalke 04’s German Cup tie against FC Lokomotive Leipzig”

“As a nation and as a football family, we stand firmly with Christopher. Racism has no place on the pitch, in the stands, or anywhere in society”

“We commend him for his strength and courage in the face of such provocation. His dignity is a powerful reminder that hate will never defeat the spirit of the beautiful game”

“On behalf of the Ghana Football Association, I extend our full support to Christopher and join the global football community in calling for decisive action against all forms of discrimination”

“Together, we must continue to ensure that football remains a safe space for respect, equality, and unity”

Schalke 04 triumphed in the clash after inflicting a 1-0 win over Lokomotive Leipzig to progress in the Cup competition.

The experienced winger joined Schalke 04 last summer, with his current contract expected to expire next summer.
