Ghana has reaffirmed its ambition to host major continental and international football tournaments following a high-level meeting between the Confederation of African Football (CAF) and government officials.

The meeting, led by CAF General Secretary Samson Adamu and Ghana Football Association (GFA) President Kurt Edwin Simeon-Okraku, included discussions with the Minister for Sports and Recreation, Kofi Iddie Adams, and other key stakeholders.

Talks focused on strengthening Ghana’s football infrastructure and promoting grassroots development as part of a broader strategy to position the country as a leading host of major tournaments. The Sports Minister подчеркнул the unifying power of football, stressing its role in fostering national pride and cohesion, while reaffirming government commitment to investing in school and grassroots sports systems.

Adamu expressed confidence in Ghana’s potential and assured CAF’s support in achieving its goals. He urged authorities to prioritise upgrading pitches and facilities to meet international standards, noting that infrastructure development remains critical to securing hosting rights.

CAF also pledged technical assistance to support improvements across the sector and encouraged Ghana to develop a comprehensive strategic plan for future bids.

The renewed collaboration between CAF, the GFA and government signals growing momentum towards enhancing Ghana’s football landscape and boosting its chances of hosting major tournaments.
