Ghana defender Mohammed Salisu was the hero for AS Monaco on Friday January 10, 2025, scoring a crucial goal to help his side secure a 2-2 draw in a thrilling French Ligue 1 encounter against Nantes.

The strong defender started in the heart of his team’s defense in the away fixture of Round 17 in the ongoing French Ligue 1 season.

The game began on a sour note for AS Monaco when Nantes took an early lead. Matthis Abline struck first in the 12th minute, calmly slotting the ball into the bottom left corner after being set up by Sorba Thomas.

The home side doubled their advantage shortly after the break, with Kelvin Amian firing a superb volley into the top right corner, also assisted by Thomas.

Despite trailing 2-0, Monaco showed resilience. In the 52nd minute, Wilfried Singo found Breel Embolo with a precise pass, allowing the forward to unleash a powerful strike into the left post to reduce the deficit.

Just eight minutes later, Ghana’s Mohammed Salisu stepped up to complete the comeback. Lamine Camara delivered a perfectly timed corner into the box, and the Black Stars defender soared high to meet it with a powerful header, planting the ball firmly into the net to level the score at 2-2.

Salisu’s goal ignited Monaco’s hopes of pushing for a late winner, but the team was unable to capitalise on their momentum, eventually settling for a point at full-time.
