Ghana Dance Association members, others at the workshop held in Accra
The Ghana Dance Association has unveiled plans for an extensive series of cultural engagements and performances across the United States in 2025, designed to celebrate African traditions and deepen ties between Africa and the African diaspora.
Under the theme “The Door of Return,” these events will offer audiences a glimpse into Ghanaian culture through traditional music, dance, and storytelling.
The schedule includes several major events, such as the Black History Festival in New York City from February 26 to March 1, 2025, the Ohio Black Expo in Columbus, Ohio, from May 24 to 26, 2025, the Juneteenth Festival in College Park City, Atlanta, Georgia, from June 15 to 16, 2025, the Juneteenth Celebration in New York City from June 19 to 20, 2025, and the Global Goals Arts Festival in Walnut Hill Park, New Britain, Connecticut, from August 11 to 16, 2025.
Other notable appearances include the Global Africa Forum and additional engagements yet to be announced.
A special delegation of performers comprising dancers, singers, instrumentalists, choreographers, and leaders from the Ghana Dance Association will collaborate with local groups in the United States to present grand showcases of indigenous Ghanaian dance and culture.
In addition to performances, workshops and educational sessions will be held at various locations, offering local communities hands-on experiences in drumming, storytelling, and traditional dance.
The Ghana Dance Association, which includes groups such as the Sususma Pan African Dance Ensemble, Ghana Cultural Ballet, Sasa Cultural Troupe, and Dromo Dance Ensemble, recently gave audiences a preview of their “Door of Return” performance.
This sneak peek took place during the African Diaspora Business and Development Stakeholders Workshop at the Bayview Village Conference Room in Atomic Junction, Accra, where their captivating presentation was met with enthusiasm from attendees.
The association’s 2025 U.S. tour aims to not only entertain but also foster cultural exchange and strengthen the bonds between Africa and its diaspora.
Through these performances and interactive sessions, the Ghana Dance Association seeks to highlight the enduring vibrancy of African heritage and its significance on the global stage.
