Ghana secured a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Uganda in the first leg of the FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup qualifiers at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday.

Uganda took an early advantage and went into the break leading 1-0 after capitalizing on Ghana’s slow start. The visitors looked organized and resilient, frustrating the hosts throughout the opening half.

However, Ghana responded strongly after the restart, showing urgency and attacking intent. Their persistence paid off when substitute Priscilla Mensah rose highest to power home a header, leveling the score and igniting the home crowd.

Moments later, Ghana completed the turnaround as Jessica delivered a precise assist for Latifa Abesik, who calmly finished to give the Black Princesses the lead.

The win gives Ghana a narrow advantage heading into the second leg, with qualification still firmly in the balance.
