The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has issued a warning to the public to be cautious of misinformation. This comes after a viral audio on social media claimed that the GAF was secretly transporting boxes of ammunition, which was later debunked by the GAF as false .

According to the GAF, the pickup truck in question was actually delivering a cow to be quarantined, not ammunition. The GAF urged the public and media to verify information before sharing it to prevent spreading falsehoods.

This isn’t the first time the GAF has addressed misinformation. In October, the Chief of the Defence Staff, Lieutenant General Thomas Oppong-Peprah, emphasized the importance of collective action against misinformation, particularly in the digital space .

The GAF has also warned against the unauthorized use of military uniforms and accoutrements, which poses a significant security risk and can tarnish the image of the military .
