In a wide-ranging interview on the Ghana Football Association podcast, Director of Information Technology and Deputy General Secretary Francis Essah Adu outlined the rapid digital transformation reshaping football administration in Ghana.

Speaking to Patrick Akoto, Adu reflected on his 25-year journey, highlighting the shift from paper-based systems to fully integrated digital platforms. He revealed that player registration, once handled manually, is now streamlined through the globally connected FIFA Connect system, allowing real-time access and verification across FIFA member associations.

Adu noted that the FA’s adoption of a 24-hour operational model has significantly improved efficiency, enabling the processing of over 60,000 player registrations annually while reducing delays for clubs nationwide.

He also cautioned against the growing threat of unlicensed agents, urging players to engage only certified intermediaries to avoid exploitation.

The FA’s Competition Management System continues to enhance matchday operations and data tracking, with plans to extend its reach to grassroots football.

Despite progress, Adu acknowledged challenges such as double registration and identity manipulation, stressing the need for stronger verification systems as the FA pursues a fully digitized future.
