The Ghana Football Association will officially unveil Ghana legend Asamoah Gyan as an Ambassador on Wednesday, May 20, 2026.

The special ceremony is scheduled to take place at the Pelican Hotel in Accra and will begin at 7:00 PM.

The initiative forms part of efforts by the GFA to celebrate Gyan’s immense contribution to Ghana football while also using his influence and popularity to rally support for the Black Stars ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup in the United States, Canada and Mexico.

As part of his new role, Gyan is expected to lead promotional campaigns, fan engagements and corporate partnership activities aimed at uniting Ghanaians behind the national team before the tournament begins next month.

The former Black Stars captain will also represent the GFA at official functions and meetings while helping to promote Ghana’s national teams and Colts football.

Gyan remains one of the greatest footballers in Ghana’s history after spending 16 years with the Black Stars. The 40-year-old made 109 appearances for the senior national team and scored a record 51 goals to become Ghana’s all-time leading scorer.

The former striker also represented Ghana at multiple Africa Cup of Nations tournaments and FIFA World Cups, where he became Africa’s all-time top scorer at the Mundial with 6 goals.
