The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has received an overwhelming response in its search for a new head coach of the senior national team, the Black Stars, following the dismissal of Otto Addo.
GFA President Kurt Okraku revealed that over 600 applications were submitted within just 24 hours after the coaching position became vacant. The figure highlights a significant surge in interest compared to the previous recruitment process in 2024, which attracted 500 applicants before Otto Addo’s appointment.
According to Okraku, the increase of more than 100 additional applicants underscores the global appeal and prestige of managing Ghana’s national team, despite recent challenges on the pitch.
The GFA is expected to begin a thorough review process to identify a suitable candidate to lead the Black Stars, with the team preparing for upcoming international assignments, including the FIFA World Cup.
The association has indicated that further updates on the team’s technical direction will be communicated in due course as the search intensifies.
